At a customer I recently ran into the situation that for an existing DX200 S4 series the customer needed more physical capacity and bought additional disk shelves.
Unfortunately during the time of ordering new shelves and the final delivery to the customer, both BBUs of the DX went into warning, because in 6 months time they are about to expire. The consequence of this is, that the process of adding additional shelves to the DX is blocked because of the warning regarding the BBUs to be expire.
Sorry guys, this is really a pain in the a**, the customer is not happy, because he needs the capacity and the BBUs are still fine. So what is the reason for this behaviour?
There should be a possibility to add shelves although the system is in a warning state. Btw, a CFL is possible :-(
Kind regards
Dirk
Unfortunately, we cannot change the conditions when you execute the maintenance operations.
ETERNUS does not allow to do these operations in warning mode, only in the normal state to avoid unexpected troubles.
I know for workaround in this situations i know that this is very horrible for you and customer because i didnt create raid group when system wwas in warnikng state. You can send me mail to private!
Thank you for this idea. Your request have been forwarded to development team and waiting for their feedback.
